As a former Assistant District Attorney with the prestigious Manhattan District Attorney's Office, Montell has personally handled thousands of criminal cases in New York City Criminal Court and New York Supreme Court. Mr. Figgins has also been lead counsel in numerous criminal trials before the courts in New York.

While in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Figgins was a member of the Domestic Violence Unit wherein he handled a multitude of domestic violence cases at the felony and misdemeanor level. This experience was invaluable as it helped developed a keen sense of how to handle cases involving victims.

Mr. Figgins was also a member of a newly created unit within the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office that was created to specialize in the prosecution of identity theft cases. Identity theft cases are very different form the average criminal case because the proofs in such cases are almost always heavily laden with business records and receipts from commercial transactions.
