Montell Figgins graduated from Fordham University in New York City with Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Minor in Business Administration.

He also received a J.D. from Seton Hall Univeristy School of Law where he was a member of the Appellate Moot Court Board.

Mr. Figgins is a commissioner on the Planning Board for the City of East Orange, NJ where he assists the city in the expansion and adoption of the city’ s master plan. In this position, Mr. Figgins also deals with a myriad of land use regulations and ordinances. Montell is a regular contributor and writer for the Essex Times Newspaper where he publishes articles pertaining to legal issues.

He is active in the Democratic party in Essex County, New Jersey. He is also a member of Masonic Lodge Tyre # 29 P.H.A.  in Newark, NJ.

Mr. Figgins is a member of Association of Criminal Defense lawyers of NJ, New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Garden State Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, New York County Lawyers Association, Assigned Counsel Plan for the City of New York (18-B Panel), pool attorney for the Office of the Public Defender of New Jersey, Essex County and the New York City Criminal Bar Association.

Mr. Figgins is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
